—The event is now over. Thank you for such a great response. We’ll be putting up pictures and videos from the event soon. Till then, here’s the programme of the session that took place—

Date: October 25th, 2013. 14.00-18.00 hrs.

Place: Design Academy Eindhoven, Emmasingel 14, Eindhoven, The Netherlands

14.00 Welcome

How can global design research support a transition process that is human-centred and evolving towards positive and sustainable changes around the world? GOOD Afternoon is all about building answers to this question together, based on the ample experiences of the Reach network and the participants. The highly interactive programme will result in a collective display to reflect the discussions, and for participants to take home afterwards for personal use in their organisations.

GOOD Afternoon is focussed around in-depth discussion and exchange of experiences in various groups. The partners in the Reach network facilitate and support this process through storytelling and documentation.

14.15 LEARN:

How to learn about barriers and opportunities in organisations in need of making a transition?
Inspired by brief stories of Reach partners about how they helped organisations to learn from transitions, participants will jointly discuss and share their own stories This exploration will spark further thinking on the topic, facilitated and documented by the full group of Reach partners.

Bas Raijmakers (STBY, UK/NL) talks about transparent collaborations on design research that help to identify and overcome barriers in an organisation.

Daniel Szuc (Apogee, Hong Kong)  shows how nurturing open and caring conversations with clients can help deal with change and unexpected ideas and strategies.

Virginia Cruz (IDSL, France) relates how product companies include services and vice versa, to deliver holistic offers that are relevant to people’s lives.

Martin Beyerle (Minds and Makers, Germany) talks about what a transition towards customer centricity means and discuss which barriers organisations are facing.

15.15 Tea break (opportunity to browse documented stories and informally discuss results)

15.35 TRANSFORM:

How can organisations actually transform themselves, building on design research?

Other Reach partners will now spark off the discussion with an exchange of brief stories about struggles and successes with helping organisations to transition. Participants are again invited to contribute their experiences and to actively join the conversation on transformations. All Reach partners will be involved in facilitation and documentation.

Lekshmy Parameswaran (fuelfor, Spain) explains about the curriculum on design thinking and innovation developed for healthcare professionals in Singapore.

Rikke Ulk (Antropologerne, Denmark) tells a story about how strategy/vision making and prototype testing (the general and the specific) can fruitfully nurture each other.

Ayush Chauhan (Quicksand) talks about experiences with various transition projects for non-profit organisations in India.

Slava Kozlov (Summ()n, Russia/NL) explains how ‘serious games’ help enact the development of ‘future solutions’, and create immediate feedback too.

16.50 Tea break (opportunity to browse the collective display of stories and informally discuss results)

17.20 DISCUSS:

What did we learn about making transitions in organisations?

In a final joint discussion, supported by the display of many stories around the room, the main insights of the day are formulated and documented together. What have we learned about transformations, and maybe we have transformed ourselves too? All participants will receive digital documentation of the afternoon’s proceedings.
